The contributions of the Stanton and Killeen families to the history of Rutherglen and to the development of Australia's most exclusive wine region are the stuff of legend. Stanton & Killeen are renowned internationally for their peerless fortifieds. An assemblage of cellar aged wines, crafted from precious parcels of fruit grown to quarantined vines, Shiraz and Durif with a host of Portuguese varietals, Touriga and Tinta Cao, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz, a complex mix of rare Rutherglen fruit in astonishing balance.

John Richard Stanton continued to improve and expand the business, founding the magnificent Park View winery. Some of the original vineyards planted by Jack Stanton in 1921 are still operational and produce the finest fruit in the district. The most notable being the old Shiraz vines which provide the most distinguished material for S&K's famous Vintage Port. Six different varieties must be picked and fermented separately, assessed, aged and artisanally assembled before maturation in large 2500 litres, well seasoned oak casks, followed by a further spell of bottle age before release. Alcohol 18.0%

A viscous, deeply coloured wine. Lifted brandy spirit and dark cherry fruit dominate, blackberries and a wonderful spirit integration. More berries on the palate together with plums, spice and white pepper are rounded out with gentle chalky tannins. Spiced blackberry and black cherry flavours combine to round out the wonderfully soft finish. As always balance is the key, an harmonious combination of fruit, tannin and acid.

All the good things in life are Stella Bella. Delicately pink and pétillant, fashioned from the ripe and juicy Muscat grape Blanc A Petits Grain, drawing upon the luscious Moscato wine style, sweetly fruity, low in alcohol and lightly fizzy. The cherub rose blush hue of the gorgeous little berries is expressed sumptuously in the wine's captivating colour, effulgent flavours and bedazzling bouquet. Drink from chilled flutes and match with tasty nibbles or cheeky desserts.

$2099each $251DOZEN EACH DOZEN Vines are planted to sites at the southern end of Margaret River where climes serve to maximise the heady aromatics characteristic of Moscato. Grapes are ready for harvest when all the berry skins have turned a full and deep rosy brown colour. Grapes are cooled before crushing to the press and remain on their skins for up to a day to extract colour and flavour. After pressing, the juice is settled bright and fermented cold with an aromatic yeast strain. When the desired alcohol level is reached, the fermentation is arrested by rapid cooling in order to maintain natural grape sugars and the carbon dioxide gas evolved during the fermentation process. Bottling occurs in May, just in time for a spring release. Alcohol 7.5%

Delicate pink colour. A blushing pink bouquet of exotic fragrances, rose petals, musk and spicy turkish delight. Lightly sweet, delicately fizzy with a bright acidity, full of the fresh flavours of gooseberries and lychee, summer berries and rose water. A zesty fresh acidity to deliver a lithe, fresh and delicate finish. Delightful with pannacotta and raspberry jelly or creamy blue cheese and dried muscatels.

Established 1985, the Step Rd wineworks are fortuitously positioned to collate harvests of the finest grapes from local vineyards at Langhorne Creek and splendid sites within Adelaide Hills. Sparkling wines are something that Step Rd do particularly well. They have appropriated parcels which can display the requisite qualities of ripeness, acid balance and excellent varietal definition, to be fashioned into a generously flavoured, forward drinking effervescent wine with lively melon, stonefruit and citrus characters, freshness and refined, yeasty complexity.

$1499each $179DOZEN EACH DOZEN Step Rd was founded with dual goals, make the highest quality wine while taking a lead as guardians of the environment. The philosophy is to act as caretaker of the land, thereby realizing the full potential of the vineyard to yield the finest fruit. Everything about the operation is designed and managed to be mindful of the health and welfare of staff and the environment. Liquid waste is purified and recycled as irrigation. Solid waste of skins, stalks and seeds are mulched and returned to the vineyard to enhance and improve the soil. Following harvest and sorting, grapes are treated to a temperature controlled vinification in clean fermenters to create a fresh, fruit forward style with fine mousse and clean finish.

Pale straw with green hues, a fine and persistent bead. Fresh apple aromas, gingerbread, lemon curd and hints of yeast. Fresh and lively with luscious stonefruit and biscuit characters, some mid palate sweetness complemented by a creamy mousse and crisp, clean finish. Aromatic, balanced and revitalizing, a superb aperitif style that drinks well alongside canapes, smoked seafood or chicken caesar.

The pictuesque Plunkett Fowles vineyards occupy choice sites throughout the rolling plateaux at the heights of the Strathbogie Ranges. The quality of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown here are clearly within the Ivy League of the finest Victorian fruit. An assemblage of roughly equaly proportions Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The white grapes share their origin equally between a variety of blocks within the Plunkett Fowles Upton Run and Whitegate Vineyards. The black grapes are drawn exclusively from the Trevor's Block at Whitegate.

$2699each $323DOZEN EACH DOZEN Grapes are picked early and harvested throughout the cool of the night to ensure fruit temperature are low , thereby preserving primary fruit characters. The Pinot Noir grapes were whole bunch pressed, a process which minimises phenollic extraction and bitterness, leading to a more delicate wine. Batches are inoculated to culture EC1118, a strong competitive yeast which possesses the ability to ferment at low temperatures, create good flocculation and has excellent alcohol tolerance. Vinified in tank at 15ËšC to preserve primary fruit flavours, fermented to dryness, the wine was kept on its lees to add complexity. Stone Dwellers was held on secondary fermentation lees for a short period prior to bottling.

Lively appearance, creamy and long lasting with a continual fine bread. Bouquet shows bright citrus aromas with peach notes and some yeasty complexity. It has off-dry residual sugar, balanced alcohol, soft balanced tannins and refreshing acid. To accompany hors d'oeuvre, a pungent camembert or smoked mussels.

$1799each $215DOZEN EACH DOZEN Parcels of Pinot Noir are sourced from mature vineyards in Coonawarra and McLaren Vale, harvested early in the season to retain acid crispness and ensure delicacy of flavour. Juices are pressed and inoculated with Saccharomyces cerevisiae followed by a brisk vinification in chilled fermenters and course of malolactic to enhance creaminess and infuse soft textures. Batches are rested on primary yeast lees for several months, enriching the palate and introducing autolysis complexity. Following a natural secondary fermentation, components are assembled, treated to the traditional liqueur tirage, ready for crowning and reseal.

Pale straw hues, persistent bead. Deliciously clean, aromatic nose with a touch of peach, white cherries and a dash of attractive yeast complex. Elegant soft fruit palate in a drier style, newly picked berry flavours, freshly cut strawberries and cream, pineapples and exotic tropical fruits abound, layered and textural before a clean acid finish. Serve with friends and nibbles.

Mornington brings something different to the Italianate Moscato, climactically it is blessed with a real advantage. In Australia, there are fewer traditional stylistic conventions to the handling of Moscato, therefore flavoursome and refreshing versions can be crafted which trump the Europeans. T'Gallant fashions their Moscato to display the virtues of simple, high quality winemaking, picking the grapes at a moderate alcohol level, gentlly pressing and not messing about with the wine too much, practices which are all central to the T'Gallant philosophy.

$1999each $239DOZEN EACH DOZEN Mornington is a fantastic cool climate region for the Moscato, it enjoys a maritime aspect which ensures the vines never get a really hot day. The flavour and acids are preserved and phenolics are kept to a minimum. The maritime elements also infuse all those Mediterranean air characters into the nose and palate. Fully ripened until bursting with rich natural sugars and wonderful floral elements, the fruit is gently pressed to capture the luscious pale golden juices. T'Gallant's Kevin and Kathleen Quealy keep the winemaking process minimal and pure, as maintaining freshness is paramount to the appeal of the final wine. Post fermentation, whilst still fresh and vital, Juliet is racked and promptly filtered into bottle.

Pale straw hue. A fully aromatic profile, fruity and floral, roses and white carnation, alluring grape bouquets, a beguiling beginning to this wine. A flourish of hot pink with a little of the fermentation spritz, flavours of fruit punch and wild strawberry, ripe peaches and rosewater. Juliet is endowed with a decadently full palate of ripe fruit, a touch of savoury, soft acids and long delicious finish.
